Precautions against electrode breakage, tripping and excessive oxidation

Abstract

Take the following measures to effectively avoid electrode breakage, tripping and excessive oxidation in the steelmaking process: ⊙ Adjust the electrode phase sequence. In the three-phase AC arc furnace, the electrode phase sequence should be correct, and the phase sequence should be counterclockwise. If it is clockwise, the electrode will loosen when used, causing damage. ⊙ To reduce the breakage and damage caused by mechanical external force, furnace collapse and improper operation, large pieces of steel materials should be installed in the lower layer of the furnace as far as possible, and scrap steel materials should be evenly distributed in the furnace. ⊙ Avoid non-conductive materials in scrap steel, and do not make non-conductive objects such as lime gather directly below the electrode to affect the electrification or break the electrode. ⊙
The following measures can effectively avoid electrode breakage, tripping and excessive oxidation during the steelmaking process:
⊙ Adjust the electrode phase sequence. In the three-phase AC electric arc furnace, the electrode phase sequence should be correct. The phase sequence should be counterclockwise.
⊙ Pay attention to the position of the furnace cover, the electrode column is aligned with the furnace top hole, and the electrode column is parallel. The wall of the furnace top hole should be cleaned frequently to avoid the accumulation of residual steel slag and crushing the electrode.
⊙ Keep the electric furnace tilting system in good condition and keep the electric furnace tilting smoothly.
⊙ Avoid clamping the electrode holder at the electrode connection and the electrode joint hole.
Choose high-quality joints with high strength and good machining accuracy to avoid mixing multiple products when using them.
⊙ Protect the end face of the electrode to prevent the end face from being oxidized and embedded with foreign matter, which will affect the connection between the electrodes.
The electrode hole and joint thread are prevented from mechanical damage before and during the electrode connection.
⊙ The electrode hole and joint shall be protected from steel slag or foreign matter embedded to affect the rotary joint. Before use, it shall be blown with compressed air.
⊙ Reduce the oxidation consumption of the electrode perimeter, strengthen the sealing of the furnace, reduce the air intrusion into the furnace; minimize the exposure time of the red hot electrode outside the furnace, and standardize the oxygen blowing operation.
⊙ For the melting furnace, if conditions permit, the electrode adopts spray cooling technology, which can effectively reduce the oxidation consumption of the electrode side.
