Precautions against electrode breakage, tripping and excessive oxidation

2013-12-03

Take the following measures to effectively avoid electrode breakage, tripping and excessive oxidation in the steelmaking process: ⊙ Adjust the electrode phase sequence. In the three-phase AC arc furnace, the electrode phase sequence should be correct, and the phase sequence should be counterclockwise. If it is clockwise, the electrode will loosen when used, causing damage. ⊙ To reduce the breakage and damage caused by mechanical external force, furnace collapse and improper operation, large pieces of steel materials should be installed in the lower layer of the furnace as far as possible, and scrap steel materials should be evenly distributed in the furnace. ⊙ Avoid non-conductive materials in scrap steel, and do not make non-conductive objects such as lime gather directly below the electrode to affect the electrification or break the electrode. ⊙

Cause of electrode breakage

◆ The force state of the electrode, the degree of force from top to bottom decreases in turn, and the electrode and joint located below the gripper receive the greatest force. ◆ When the electrode is subjected to external force: the external force of stress concentration leads to electrode breakage. ◆ The causes of external force include: collapse of large furnace charge during melting period, non-conductive object at the lower end of electrode in scrap steel, impact of massive flow steel, etc. ◆ Uncoordinated lifting response speed of electrode holder, eccentric core of electrode hole of furnace cover, poor electrode connection, gaps at joints and joints with substandard use strength are also easy to break. ◆ electrode and joint processing accuracy is poor, resulting in poor coordination, but also easy to cause
